Jeri, I just read the whole blog and found it so very interesting. I loved the pictures so much. It makes me long for a trip back to England. I really got the feel of Crispin. It makes me eager to read the sequel. Gloria Alden

If you can't find meat, what do you eat? Bread and cheese, I know, but what other foods usually grace your table?

Crispin Guest

We do obtain the occasional sausage and fish. My neighbor is a poulterer and he favors our table with a pullet from time to time. Hocks of swine, ox tails, cockles. They all find their way to lur table. Jack has even offered me cat before but one must draw the line. I hear that the Spanish are now eating coney (rabbit) and that the wealthier tables in England are taking up the habit as fashionable. What next? Rat?

My fare is not entirely without meat, but it is certainly of poorer quality than I am used to.
